The Beginning of the End: A Heartfelt Thank You and Reflection
Originally written April 13, 2024
Genuine "thank you" to everyone for the support so far. We are at the beginning of the end with very little left remaining in the demolition of the building we've occupied for 12 years.
Joshua pulled up while I was there, took the picture, then asked me (genuinely) how I felt in all of this "I know you're not an emotional guy but just wanted to check-in with you, I know you put a lot in this place, and wanted to see how you're doing", a caring question and gesture I really appreciated - and honestly, I can say that throughout all of this I never had a moment of anxiety or worry or regret.
I've had incredible peace about everything. Was I tired? Beat down? Overwhelmed? Exhausted? Oh yes indeed, but honestly with genuine reflection, I can say that my head has been level throughout working hard to maintain a perspective beyond myself. I owe a lot of that to the perspective God's allowed me to develop over the course of my life with challenges He's thrown at me, and I owe a healthy share of resilience to the community of support that we have around us.
Candace and I are obviously running a business, but like most small business owners, we view it as more than that, it's more than just a gym, we'd literally do anything to keep everyone as happy as possible. We've always tried our best, and of course you can't make everyone happy, but we try. And we feel that reciprocity from everyone daily. We constantly see the "can't waits" and "so exciteds" on social media and it's just those little doses of excitement that keep us pushing so hard.
Don't burn bridges, be humble, work hard, be virtuous, don't take anything for granted and keep a healthy perspective. This week is step one in a long journey to November, but we are ready and excited as I'm sure it will be here before we know it.
